i paid pep boys 40$ to check my codes and it had a knock sensor code, so i did the by pass with a 2 watt mega ohm capacitor and when the car is cold it runs great but when it warms up it gets sluggish again, what could be the problem? is there a way that i can check the codes?

thanx for any help

No such thing as a 2 watt megaohm capacitor!

Now a 2 watt megaohm resistor is feasable however the correct value is 550,000 ohms, not 1,000,000!

Bypassing KS is just for diagnosis not actually running engine on the street more than necessary to get to a shop for KS replacement.

Yes, I had to bypass one of mine with a 550K resistor and it worked. You need to be able to figure out which one it is and be careful cutting wires and splicing into your ECU wires or you could do more damage.

You can check the code if you drop the ECU and view LED on the end of it after turning the knob clockwise then back counter clockwise and counting the LED flashes. Match the flash code with the codes in the FSM to figure out what codes you have.
