Car rolling backwards?

Ok. I have an S auto. There was a red light ahead, so I slowed down to a stop. There was a guy in front of me and I wanted to let off the brake and roll up a bit. I let off the brake.. only to roll backwards? Ok.. weird... no incline.. I shifted to Park, Neutral and back to drive and gave it another go. Backwards again?

I was inching closer to the woman behind me, concerned that if I hit the gas when the green came I'd slam into her. That wasn't so. I let off the brake and rolled backwards a bit and then accelerated. It made a clunk and then flew forward.. YES!!

Ok so this isn't normal. Should I take it to the dealer ASAP or see if it happens again?

I would call the dealership first then do down there. You dont want to be driving too much if it doin weird things.

I'm not sure if this applies to the V but some cars with automatics go into neutral at a stop, like the saturn astra. It might be whats happening to your V. As I have a 6 spd. it rolls backwards regardless.

i would have it checked out, i could understand if it was on an incline.... but your title scared me... thought it was someone who didnt know how to drive a stick =\

lol when i saw the title i thought i was going to be opening up a war... just keep your foot on the gas... dont stop for red lights... problem taken care of...

Normal thing lol i seen plenty of cars do that mine does it too sometimes on hills it rolls back a lil then goes on forward

You sure there's ZERO incline? Most likely you misjudged the incline and that's what made you go backwards.
