car ran with out fuel pump

iv been trying to put my car in timing. i put a tube in cilinder 1 and cranked it till i felt air come out. i dont know if i did it right cause i cant see my timing marks. then i put the distributor porting to #1 sparkplug i tryed to start it but it doesnt i took the fuse off the fuel pump and it started after like 4sec chould that mean my fuel injectors are throwing 2 much fuel or that i need new ones
