Has anyone swapped out the V's horn yet? I'd appreciate some insight on what they bought. I tried researching but have no idea what to replace the stock with.

(Some background: I was driving on I-95 next to a semi when he just decided "Hey, staying in this lane just makes to much sense. Oh and cars around me should enjoy this spur of the moment idea, so let me surprise them by not putting on turning lights or doing anything else that may hint this." So he proceeded to change lanes and nearly pinned my against the median wall, even forcing me to drive to speed pass him on the shoulder. This whole time I was tooting my horn and I realize it couldn't sound anything different from a moped. So I figure a nice loud horn might help put some of those semi's in place.) end rant

Lol, go down to autozone, discount, oriely, walmart.... They should all sell horns. Buy a set of high/low (2 horns) and replace the stock ones. I bought some cheap $25 ones at autozone and they a loud and deep unlike the stock road runner horn.

JC Whitney sells a nice air horn. It comes in at 118 DB http://www.jcwhitney.com/autop...10101

That should be something like twice as loud as your current horn, and on the same level as a Semi's horn (depending on how much insulation is around the horn). *I don't actually know that this will fit in the Versa, but you are supposed to be able to mount it in cars.

I honked the horn at my daughters when I came by after picking up my car. She loves the car but wasn't impressed by the horn. Will have to go w/the bigger horn.

I would go with HELLAS, they sound right and loud as hell...Alot of horns claim they're loud, but they go based of funny db ratings...I tried boat horns after owning my first pair of triple HELLAS and they stunk....... I'm back to HELLAS again... I will eventually get train horns just cause I'm obsessive and in NY you gotta be loud....

Give them a look......

normally the horn is just one power line connected to it, it grounds to the chasis, get the most redneck truck horn you can buy! and hook it up

the air forns are a good idea, but you have to remember, they are not an instant sounding. I tried the airhorn thing in my old car. They were loud as hell, but they take a few seconds to get loud as the single little piston in the air pump need to build up enough pressure. Also, htere is a power issue with them, and i mean an electrical issue. Most require 20amps or more, while most OEM horns are 15amps and less. Simply putting in a higher amperage fuse is a bad idea. Go the safe route and wire in either an Acc horn where you can either run stock, or a flip of a switch, airhorn, or just completly upgrade the wire for the OEM horns.

Gotta keep the stock horn -- I keep hitting the panic button. I can put the fob in my pocket and turn the wrong way and set it off!

frankohabs- we had the exact same problem. The dealer sells a little rubber cover that slides over the fob that recesses the buttons just enough so that you don't keep accidentally setting them off. I think they were less than $5 and we haven't set off the panic button since we put them on our keys.

We bought ours at West Covina Nissan, but they don't have it on their website.

I replace mine with a set of Italian "Fiamm's." Usually @ most auto parts stores. They have that "big car " sound, not the import "beep." I also have a set on my '86 Suzuki GSXR 1100 m/c. And a similar (actually, off an International DT-466) on my Russian "bomb" ( 1990 Samara 1.5L). They are stricly electrical (not air), using just one fused wire from the battery to the control relay (supplied in the kit) & mount in the same place the old ones were (in front of the rad), using the simple brackets supplied or make your own. They use the OEM switch wiring to function.Good luck!
