I replaced the compressor in my 2005 Maxima and when I went to start it nothing happened. By nothing I mean the lights dont come on, the radio doesn't come on, the horn doesn't work, the door lock/unlock, the trunk release, anything electrical does not come on with the key in. The only thing it does is blink the security light and makes that beeping noise when you open the door with the key in. I've also noticed if I hit the lock button on the remote it blinks twice and if I hit unlock it blinks once.

I've checked all the fuses in the engine compartment next to the battery and the ones in the car, I don't know what else it could be. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

2005 maxima and already replaced the compressor, mine is 1999 failed this year. havn't replaced it yet. did you do it yourself or through a mechanic. Can you tell me how much did it cost you. Are you sure that your battery is good or fully charged. Similar stuff happened to me once, the battery was good but the terminals were corroded and cleaning that started the car.

The battery was good before I changed it and I hooked it to a battery charger and it had no affect. I did notice the terminals weren't perfect so perhaps I can clean them up and get it to start that way. I'll try that later today and update you on it.

MBH, see my response to your other post. To OP on AC replacement, it's not a good idea to replace the AC compressor without the right equipment. If you want to do it, make sure the AC system is evacuated at a properly equipped shop then replace the compressor and dryer (this gets saturated when exposed to ambient air). How's the condition of the expansion valve?

I had the compressor evacuated at a shop before I took it off. I am also replacing the expansion valve and the condenser this week before I have it refilled at a shop. I will have to drive this week with no a/c because I haven't replaced the condensor/expansion valve yet but that shouldn't be a problem as long as I don't turn on the a/c.

Do you have any good tips on replacing the expansion valve? I took the bolt out that holds the 2 lines running into it and then couldn't get the 2 allen head screws out to pull it out, is there any easier way to do this? It is really tight back there.
