My 300 is automatic. While my car is in park it accelerates and then returns to normal. It only accelerates to the 1 in the rpm. Another problem is when I'm driving, it doesn't shift when it's suppose to. It takes a while to shift by itself. I usually have to step on the pedal and then let it go for it to shift. Need help, info anything

Welcome aboard!

A few questions, since it sounds like you might be kinda new to automotive stuff - Does it eventually settle down to a lower idle (around 700?)

Let's start with the basics (regarding the transmission): When was the last time the fluid was changed / checked?

If the fluid is clean and full, and the filter is unobstructed, it could point to a vacuum line issue (which would also cause high idle). But let's check fluid level and color first. :)

Yes I am new to the whole car scene and car knowledge. And please forgive me if my questions seem dumb. Where is the dipstick located to check the fluid? When I open the hood there are two, one on the left side and the other on the right side. I'm assuming it's the one on the right side correct?

Transmission dipstick is on the left rear, right front is the engine dipstick

No worries - That's what we're here for.

Check both of them - oil should be between the H and L marks when cool, and it should be amber or tan in color. Black is bad.

Trans fluid should be clear/pink on a white paper towel, and it should be checked with the engine running, at operating temperature, in Park.

We'll start with the easy stuff! :)
