I received my first z like 3weeks ago. The front brakes needed to be replace. I have all the parts for it but god damn... the tube from the caliper and the hardware lines is seeded together. I used the 10w-40 to spray the rust away but it still wouldn't work. So I have decided to see where the hardware line leads and it was to the master cylinder. So the lines are strewed in the master cylinder and its seeded badly. I went to Advance Auto to see how much the lines were and the guy knew what he was talking about and said that since i have the braided steel for the brakes line. I mind as well do the braided steel line from the caliper to the master cylinder. I didn't know if anyone of you did that to your z and did it actually worked? felt any difference? hope to hear from you soon I really need to get my car going. i have all the parts and I am just sitting here waiting for the results. Thanks z members...

English is not your first language, is it?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Are you asking if anyone has used steel braided brake lines? The answer is yes. But they aren't actually going to feel any different from normal rubber hoses.

Also, you should buy a Haynes manual to help you with these basic repairs. There was absolutely no need to separate the rubber line from the metal line coming from the master cylinder.

I've never done it, but I know what would happen. It's a bad idea, you'd be better off getting the hard lines from the JY or Nissan (or making new ones) than trying to replace the whole deal with braided stainless. At best the petal response would be more sluggish than stock, at worst it could reduce breaking performance to the point you might rear end somebody. Braided stainless is flexible so every time you press the brakes you will be moving that line before you are moving the piston in the caliper, if you can understand how upgrading to the stainless line works then you should be able to figure that part out pretty well.

Out of the parts stores I frequent, the guys at Advance seem to know their s*** better than others (lookin at you Autozone), but they are not engineers and I would venture to say that that particular counterman has not studied hydraulics systems. Or done this to a car.

I am hearing impaired so my grammar is little off. I used to be good at english but then i learned sign language It threw me off. SO now i am trying to get back on track. I am taking english class next semester in college i hope i learn something and improve. I am sorry.

I was trying to say is it okay to run a stainless line from the caliper to the master cylinder. I was doing some research and some people have positive answers about it. I figured i would post it here and see what others may say about it.

Oh yeah. There's no need for that. It will be hellishly expensive and not worth the trouble at all.

guessing "seeded" = Siezed, right?

Yes, you can run braided line all the way from the master to the wheel. It just requires the right adapters and the right length of braided line, but before I went that route I'd replace the hardline. You can buy straight lengths of hard line wiht the correct metric fittings at napa and buy or rent a bender to make the bends without creasing and damaging the brake line.
