Stock cams should give you good power up to 5500 or so. If you just want modest gains you could using two exhaust cams from an S13. They have 248/248 durations as opposed to 232/232 stock.

Wouldn't get to crazy with lift, unless your also doing the valve train. I'll have some kicka$$ cams out in Febuary. I just need to install them to get some dyno results.

I thought the stock duration was 240??? You don't want to go smaller.

Seems wierd to me too. Aren't there different ways of measuring duration?

I believe that is why you have to use the newer shims to bring them back to spec and they will have a bigger effect on performance.Other than that....I agree with WD. All turbo cars benefit more from duration than they do lift.

Ya, but w/ turbo cars you can't have any overlap. well, i guess you can but it wouldn't be very good.

you can have some overlap just not much. that is unless you are an engineer. the pdm cams are prob measured at .050 lift. i am not sure about the stockers. now that i think about it, those are still really low numbers. a good question for pdm.

I would have to politely dissagree. I thought it was well known that good turbo cams are relatively short duration with a high lift.

Stock RB20 cams are 240, really good drag racing cams are 272, ...alot of it has to do with RPM range and boost range also. If you run low boost then you don't need any cams. If you have a bit of lag and run higher boost, then a cam with top end performance is what you want. You can have longer duration cams without overlap, but you need adjustable cam pulleys to tune them.

By the way, I like your car Mike. Nice clean lines.

You got it backwards...

Stock is measured at .500 lift...PDMis measured at...well, read bove here where "Charlie240sxt" states:

"Intake 219 duration, .379 lift, Exhaust 221 duration, .384 lift" for th PDM cams...

You can't compare the specs, unless we can get numbers for the PDM cams at .500 lift...

I'd bet they are something like 256 duration, like the JWT set...only not as good.

yeah, if you measured it at .500 lift, it would be negative or something. this is a mess. there are some wrong numbers floating around.
