Alright guys/gals I have a real stumper here......It all started about 9 months or so ago my sister had purchased a 1999 I30. It needed some love and it recieved some.....ok well about 3 months ago, it started to develope a slight miss at idle and a significant miss at idle with a load (in drive or reverse). I scanned it and it came up with rear 02 sensor circuit low voltage. So I replaced it and nothing, still ran poorly. I scanned it again and it come up with bank 1 sensor 1 heater low voltage, replaced that. Ran slightly better, and then I gave it a basic tune-up, plugs (ngk), fuel filter, air filter. Somewhat of an improvement but still missed at idle under load, but at the time we could put it into to neutral and it would run better. About a month goes by and the starter went out, no big deal replaced that. Started to smell coolant, and the car was going through some every now and again. So me being fairly mechanically inclined, I thought after 145,000 miles on it the water pump needs to be replaced. I was also going to school at the time so I had no time to do it. So my dad and my uncle (who is also a mechanic) tackled the job. Things started off terrible and got worse. First when they tried to loosen the bolts 2 of the three snapped off. So as most of you know the timing cover has to come off. They pulled it off after a few hours of sweating and swearing. New water pump in and no more coolant loss!!!! Well about a day later the car started to misfire all the time, under load or not. I scanned it again, and it came up with the crankshaft position sensor reference malfunction, so I replaced the front sensor by the crank pulley. Nothing changed if not making the misfires worse. So we brought it to a friend who owns a shop and has a way better scan tool then I do. His scan tool was able to shut off fuel to each injector/cylinder and the car missed no matter what cylinder. His mechanic did notice the teeth on the crank pulley were bent, so my dad and I replaced the pulley just tonight. Nothing the car still runs terrible and I have no clue what the hell to do now. I scanned it again and same code came up-crankshaft position sensor reference curcuit low voltage........I have no idea what to do, any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks,
Corey

At first I was going to say: Its a 99, they have bad coil packs. Highly recommended to change them out. Also pull the crank sensor and take it back. Try to get the BWD brand of both coils and the sensor.

Sounds like a major pain in the butt.

Check your wiring to the crank sensor. Make sure it hasn't been damaged/contacted by the belts or anything. If the wiring checks good, you may have gotten a bad sensor.
