i just installed my aem cai and noticed that the filter is directly behind the fog light housing, so i removed the housing because i dont have fog lights and will be cutting the middle out of it. has anybody esle done or thought of this? should i be worried about rain hitting the filter?

now dont kill me if i'm wrong..but i have the aem cai and i believe i recall it saying the filter doesnt suck up water..and even if it did..you would need alot of water for it to really mess something up..i'd think you'd be ok with cutting out the foglight holey thing haha

By cutting the housing do you mean that you intend to open it so that the air will flow freely through the 'fog light' to the filter?

If you think your going to get colder air to your filter, your not. I tested it before with my scangauge the most dramatic difference in temperature drop was only about 1 degree F so I don't think it's worth it. You don't have to be worried about rain hitting the filter, it can get wet but not submerged.

Looks good but you should have made the mesh straight (parallel with the bumper). You gonna paint it black to match? Did you notice any difference in performance?

CodeRed - Do you think it would have to make a difference on a super hot day when the metal of the fender is hot and the air in the fender well is hot? I would think the difference in temperature could vary based on the conditions, but maybe not. Either way, sometimes it helps you sleep better at night to know that you've done everything you can to help your performance.

sure why not...

1. remove housing2. cut middle out of housing3. purchase prefered screen/mesh and marine silicon4. cut screen/mesh about one inch bigger than opening5. shape screen/mesh around back of housing5.A paint screen/mesh if disired6. apply silicon to back of housing7. apply screen/mesh to silicon8. apply more silicon, and lots of it9. let sit for 24 hours10. reinstall the housing to bumper

Well we got imports here

Drag racing in american muscle, yeah by all means go with auto.

But whos gunna drag race in a V

Plus auto's take too much hp :\ but then again they can be fast ill admit. My old 240 was auto and my friend had the same year/engine/everything 240 but it was stick. We would be about even off the line but id always win because of the gear ratio in the transmission. Im not saying auto's are slow or anything I just wouldnt mod one anymore, too much work, too much pain. Piece of cake to beef up a manuel transmission.
