Ok, first off, I have searched a lot of questions on the forum and these are the questions that I do not have answers to. Any help would be appreciated and if you have a link with the answers, please share.

I have a 1992 nissan 240sx 5spd. After much research I have decided that the CA18DET swap is the most economical way to get to my modest hp goal of 200 hp.

My questions are:1: Are engine mounts interchangable between the ca18det and the sr20det? Specifically, will Nismo engine mounts work?

2: Do any transmission parts from other engines, stock or aftermarket apply to the ca18det transmission? I am looking to replace the clutch and flywheel during the engine swap and I am having trouble finding the right components. I would like to use a light weight flywheel 10-12 lbs (any recommendations) and a slightly uprated clutch.

Thanks in advance,Chris

I question your searching abilities...

Just a few posts down, we have a thread titled,"installed proper CA NISMO engine mounts.."

As for the clutch, I typed in 'clutch' under the CA forum and came up with all these....zerothread?id=104014http://forums.nicoc ... ?id=120286

As for flywheels... they pop up on ebay every now and then, but they are almost impossible to find. Personally, I don't know if I would want a really light flywheel with this motor....

if you want to change the flywheel and the clutch and you change them both out at the same time, I am told that you can use sr20 parts. That would make it a lot easier to find decent flywheels... but be forewarned, with the ca's low rotating mass and small displacement a lightweight flywheel will make it harder to launch... probably harder to drive in general.

as for the mount question.. yes they work, thats what most of us use, but now there is a better alternative in the form of proper CA mounts, which apparently have just a little bit difference heights.

First of all WELCOME TO NICO!!!! We're always glad to have new members.

In answer to your questions; 1. All S13 mounts are interchangeable with all of the available motors for the S13. The problem with using mounts that aren't specific to the CA is that the motor is placed too high and at the improper angle (Not leaned far enough over)

2. As was stated before, there are aftermarket flywheels and clutches, but they (particularly the flywheel) can be hard to come by. I am using a SPEC Stage III clutch and it seems to hold fairly well. I haven't had it slip on me yet. I am also running a lightweight flywheel and I have mixed feelings about it. First of all, it's hard to gauge how differently the car drives, as I changed so many other things when I rebuilt the motor, that it's hard to tell what effected what. I can tell that the motor revs much faster now (my friend even heard the difference over the phone) but I definatly lost some torque down low, which isn't something you generally want to do on the CA if you're going to drive it daily. Mine won't be so I wasn't too concerned about it. It's not by any means un-streetable, but noticably a little harder to drive. If you are dead set on a flywheel, get one for an SR. You will also need and SR clutch, and a specific starter. A little searching will render you the specific part number if you're dead set on it. I'll let you do the leg work on that though! ;D Anyway, glad to be of help, and once again, welcome!

Rather than buy an expensive chrome-moly flywheel, i just had mine machined. I built a cool clutch/flywheels setup and had to machine a bunch of material off of the outside of the wheel... There is a lot of metal that can be safely removed on one of these heavy things, but the weight improves the drivability in traffic, so I didn't machine too much off

If you have the money, ATS makes a sweet clutch/flywheel combo.

Ofcourse its over $2000... But they hold between 900 and 1700 hp...
