Hey guys. My CA18DET motor didn't come with mount brackets for some reason. My friend told me that the mount brackets from a 200sx would work so I went onto the 200sx club forum and started posting. I was asking for CA18ET mounting brackets. A guy pm'ed me saying that the mounting brackets are exactly the same from the CA18ET and CA20ET so I believed him and bought the brackets. I am planning on doing my swap tomorrow so I started looking at the FSM today and I think the brackets in the diagrams look different from the ones I have. Can someone tell me if these are going to work or if I'm screwed? Also, I would appreciate if someone who doesn't have their motor in the car yet can take pics of the left and right mounting brackets. Thanks guys.

Its your lucky day! I made some pictures of the difference for someone else just afew weeks ago because he was missing his motor mount brackets too! I didn't draw them exactly correctly, but you should be able to see the difference:

CA18ET/CA20E motor mounts. U shaped on the bottom with two bolt holes.

CA18DE/T motor mounts. Soild on the bottom with one bolt hole and a slot.

Both are the same where they bolt onto the block. You could make the CA18ET/CA20E ones work by attaching a plate to cover the U and drilling a hole in the middle for the motor mount to attach to.

Thanks for the info. By attaching a plate, do you mean I have to weld a plate? I need to get my hands on a welder lol. Anyways, someone else on the 200sx club forums had the same problem and he posted pics of the CA18DET mounted on the 240sx crossmember using CA18ET/CA20E mounts and brackets. Here are the pics:

CA18DET with CA18et/CA20E brackets and mounts on 240sx crossmember.

Anyways, this looks like it will work. My only concern is that the motor looks very tilted. I know it is supposed to be but is it supposed this tilted with the regular mount brackets and KA mounts? Am I going to have any clearance issues?

That's my mock-up. Here are a few more pics with the S12 trans; shifter is straight and the pan is level. S12 folks use their mounts with no troubles with the DET, so I'd assume everything would be fine with these mounts in the 240. All you have to do is widen the mount holes on the crossmember a bit. YMMV.

As some of you guys know I was the one who who's motor also didnt come with the engine brackets, well I'm pleased to say I finally located a set of the real CA18DET brackets. Thanks to Tony at SXOC who sold me a set. Only thing left is the left motor mount for my CA.

Cliffnotes:If your CA18DET didn't come with the engine mount brackets, you have three options;1. Use CA18E(T)/CA20E brackets AND mounts.2. Use CA18E(T)/CA20E brackets, and bolt/weld a plate onto the bottom of the mount between the two holes and drill a hole in the middle. This will allow you to use the NISMO CA18DE(T) motor mounts. 3. Go to the SXOC site and get the correct CA18DET brackets from there. Expect shipping from the UK to suck though.
