it depends on the engine you get. On mine, i only changed the waterpump and timing belt and its fine since 2004.

for the oil pump just buy at nissan.a CA18DE one should do the job but im not sure on that . Look at the sticky up there in the forum there a lot of info for your question.

the water pump is for a 200 sx 1986 Turbohere the topic im talking about

I'm currently prepping my motor, so we're on the same boat. -front and rear main seals-cam seals-spark plugs-oil and oil filter-valve covers' gasket-timing belt-thermostats-belts-headgasket-vac lines

I got my engine from Jarco and I'm sure it's freaking nice, but I'm changing all those stuffs for a peace of mind. Beside, I don't want to deal with them when the engine is in...much easier while it's out now

Let me personally give you some advice, go to your autozone or nearest autoparts store and buy you a manual for a Nissan pulsar that covers the 87-89 model years as well. Let this book or the nissan sylvia/180sx fsm that is found online somewhere on NICO or with the help of some of your fellow CA members be your guide to some of the basic questions you are asking on this forum. I'm telling you to do this because you are going to get flamed or be told to use the search button because some of the questions you're asking has been answered more times than I care to remember. So please, do a little home work on your own and search the internet as well as NICO's archives for information because believe it or not, the information you seek is available. And don't mistake my informing you as a verbal spanking because that is not my intent. I have no issues with you asking questions, but it is part of the moderation team's responsibility to advise you as to the whereabouts of such info; especially stuff that has been rehearsed 1.9million times . And to those members that do know the answer, though it is very simple for you to just give an individual the answer, everyone on this forum must do their own homework if they want to learn about said engine. It is imperative that you not spoon feed anyone without 1st instructing them try searching for the information they seek. This will allow the forums to stay clearer for members with more challenging questions and free-up some bandwith as well.

Did you search the archives as well? It's funny, I was a nub on this board about 5 months ago, and now I am answering tons of questions people have. 90% of everything I've learned about this motor I got from the search button on here.

Personally, I am replacing every single gasket/seal in the motor. I had to do a bottom end rebuild and I figured I may as well have it in tip-top shape. Remember, a lot of these motors have been sitting in a junkyard for 10+ years baking in the sun. The rubber will be dry-rotted and a lot of the seals may have dried out and cracked.

You're not going to find the part # for the DET oil pump because we never got the DET. Just get an OEM oil pump for an '88 Pulsar NX SE from Nissan. Here, I'll feed you a cheap place for an oil pump.... http://www.trademotion.com/par...gid=1

when you search you can search archives or current stuff, so alwasy run 2 searches. it can be a pain but its not the CA forums fault, its just how nico does things (after the big restructuring anyway). I know the gasket set has been answered like 10 times before, in fact iirc its answered in one of the stickies! I believe the answer is yes but you'll still need the turbo gaskets, but double check.

And don't be such a hard-@$$ about it! We are obviously trying to help you because we are answering your posts. But don't get all hasty because our replys are not exactly what you want to hear. Knowledge costs in one way or another and searching for the information you seek is and I say again "IS" on NICO and most of the info you need is right up in the stickies. With a CA18DET, you will now be requesting most of your hard and soft parts for a 1988-89 nissan pulsar with 1.8l DOHC motor and please don't forget this.

I've been watching your questions and members including the moderators have been giving you answers, but I don't think you're paying close attention because all the answers you seek are right in your face. Paying attention to the members' response to your questions or I will start deleting your questions myself; especially the ones that come-off like you're giving an attitude. And so far, most of your responses have been border-line smart-@$$ed and we will not tolerate that around here. You want help, I suggest you settle down and be as humble as can be to the members on this forum.

And for your information, the CA18DET doesn't have many vaccum lines, so if you chose to change them, you best to buy a decent amount of hose and hope that your engine's vacuum lines are still intact. You shouldn't have a problem with this because like I stated before, the CA18DET doesn't have many vacuum hoses, so don't make a huge stink about it.

P.S. This post of mine is not up for discussion. Just continue on with your questions and be more cognizant of the way you type your responses.
