Hi everyone,

I'm going to have to pull my engine in the next couple of months (oil leak) and I figured I should replace all the rubber gaskets while I'm at it.

Before I do this, though, I'd like make sure I understand all of my options. What do you guys think would be best?

option #1) Cough up the cash and buy an OEM gasket set. The cheapest I've been able to find is $225.

option #2) I've found some very affordable rubber gasket sets on http://www.ebay.co.uk. They seem to go for about $50-70. I'd have to buy the turbo gaskets separately.

option #3) I've heard that you can get the OEM gasket set for about $100 at Nissan dealerships in Japan. A good friend of mine's wife is Japanese, so if this is true I could do it, but does anyone know the part number?

My head gasket is fine, and I was going to leave it alone for now. My compression is fine and the engine runs great. Obviously, I'd like to go with option #3, but I don't know if that's possible.

Thanks,

Darian

After shipping the Nissan set isn't really going to be worth it. Get the OEM set. I KNOW you can find something locally, instead of from the UK. The only thing I'll tell you is to not use the cork gasket that comes for the oil pan. It will leak. Use the end seals and RTV like it comes from the factory.

Just which gaskets were you planning on replacing? It might just be better do buy them seperately if your only gonna get 2 or 3, and especially if your not even doing the HG. On the other hand, its always nice to have extra gaskets around right when you need them, so a full set would be better if you have the money.

I guess I could just try to order them all separately, since I don't need the whole set, but like you said, it would be nice to have some spares.

Thanks everyone,

Darian
