Can someone tell me what internal diferences the non turbo and the turbo motor have? besides not being turbo and being higher compression are the rods the same as far as strength, the crank the same, HG the same, you know that kinda stuff.please fill me in on the DE what can and cant be used on a DET.thanks

I hope you know about ca18det.org, also the turbo motor obviously has piston cooling oil squirters, DET also has a main bearing girdle, forged crank and rods, lower compression, different cams, and I believe the intake manifold is slightly different. Someone else please chime in.

This topic have been brought up many times, but any ways.

The crank is the same, rods I hear they are stronger on the DET, but the intake manifold is a bit different only on the first generation DET(non intercooled). Every thing else Kouks mentioned is correct.

If you're talking about the JDM, non-turbo, RWD, CA18DE, internally they are identical, minus the difference in compression ratio (pistons) and cams.

The USDM, FWD, CA18DE, lacks a crank girdle, pistion squirters, forged rods, higher compression pistons, and different cams.

There were no USDM, RWD, CA18DE motors.

I would like to know if it's might be possible to built a ca18det from from a DE block, I have only a DE block and crank, I have the piston, rod, head, intake from a DET. My main question is does this engine would stand about 300hp, since their is no oil cooler? Thanks a lot !

Oil squirters are overrated.

Good for 450hp every day for years, but not needed for 300hp what so ever.

Now an oil cooler is needed to run a ca18DE or E let alone any turbo.

with a nice set of forgies and a proper tune IMO piston oilers are a waste of oil that could be keeping your main and rod bearings alive, the only thing I have ever broken on a CA. If it's a JDM CA18DE do it! If it's USEM I am not so enthusiastic.

It sounds like you've got all of the components to make the DE up to par. It'd be better if you had the crank girdle as well, but as long as you don't put in wicked cams that will need high revs, and you can keep it below 7K, I think you'll be fine.

yes i was talking about the JDM DE , because i was thinking of getting a DE motor set(because of price) and using the crank and maybe the rods since i spun a bearing, and also i would like to have some extra parts to start a CA motor build. So you are saying i can use the crank, rods, and head from a JDM DE?

i currently have a JDM CA18DE block in my car

CA18DE block & Crank (NO oil Squirters etc)ARP Main & Head Studs & FastenersOE CA18DET Pistons & Rods w/ Total Seal RingsNew Oil & Water Pump

using a T3/T4 and supporting mods, i dynoed 300whp the other day with a boost leak. no problems on the engine at all.. 160 compression right across, i jump the boost up to 20psi every now and then..

if i bought a JDM CA18de can i use the rods and crank in my JDM CA18DET?

if yes, then what else can be used from it besides the pistons and cams?

sorry if it sounds like im repeating my question but i dont feel that im getting a straight anwser and i might buy this ca18de(depending if i can use it) to rebuild my DET and have another block for a project build.
