I know this has been covered a couple times and i've read through all the posts, i just want to clear something up before i order the starter. im going to be utilizing a sr20det clutch and flywheel on my CA18DET. In order to do this i know i have to buy the 1986 200sx starter. the thing is i've read it should be a gear reduction starter at this link -> http://www.driftopia.com/2007/...18det/(under getting started they say: Finally, a gear reduction starter (the hoodless one) from a 1986 Nissan 200sx is necessary because the factory CA18DET starter will hit the SR20DET flywheel in a bad way. )

Can i order any starter for a 1986 200sx or does it have to be a gear reduction version??? would the stock 1986 200sx starter work?

here are the options im looking at http://www2.partstrain.com/sto...66986out of those options the USA Industries Starter is the only one that notes itself as a gear reduction starter. is this the only one that will work or will they all? im wondering because im on an extremely tight budget and would like to get the cheaper starter. i can always easily upgrade next year once im done school and makin some moneyy. any help would be really appreciatedthanks

You need a starter without the nose, that goes clear of pressureplate bolts(mounting). I had to use starter from Stanza when i put SR20 flywheel. But if you have ordred a performance clutch(like multi plate) for an SR20, then you dont have to change starter.
