so what do ya'll think? if im going for the true hatch jdm style then a ca18 is the motor. but is the sr20 that much better-ive heard that there is substantial ca aftermaket souces-but a lot more for the sr. so which is better? sice the ca has a stronger block and all. but the sr is so sexy. thanks

I've heard the CA has a better valvetrain than the SR. I wouldn't mind one, but parts seem hard to come across.

nah, just go to your local discount auto part, autozone or whatever you have in your area and get water pump, oil pump, gasket kits, etc.

as a for aftermarket, HKS makes a few things, Norris Designs too and there was one more ca specialist shop.

the ca's are sexier yes but when you compare the two engines together power wise, the sr is packing the total amount of hp's the the wheels then the ca is in it's entier engine. If i was in your shoes 'agian' then i would still get the ca only b/c not alot of ppl know about them. i know around here there isn't. this one kid was like ''...you going to swap your engine" me: "yeah" kid: "let me guess a SR20" in a I know everything manner. me i caual tone says "naw im just going to gt the CA18DET motor" the kid: "a what???" so i say go for the CA!

ask ...um...i think movingviolation240, about aftermarket. whoever it is has one on here with a ca with around 400hp.nice.oh yea, he made it into a ca19!

im not doing either personally.im going to go for all motor, and when im a little older and have my life in good shape i might buy a 97-98 240 and boost it.

I was talking about aftermarket parts. Most of the parts HKS (or any other Japanese manufacturer) makes for the CA would have to be special ordered from Japan, while there is a ridiculous amount of parts for the SR available here. Not knocking the CA, just that I don't wanna pay exorbitant shipping prices every time I want a part, ya know? I'm sure there are places that do carry CA parts, just that an overwhelming majority of the path people doing engine swaps into a 240 choose are usually the SR. I'm kinda hoping the CA does catch on though.......

please no i hope the ca doesnt catch on here in the states. i dont want this motor to blow up like teh sr20 did after magazine coverage. i'm trying to go for the most powerful ca in teh states right now and almost done. getting parts isnt that bad. all stock parts can be accounted for here in the states. after market like intercoolers and intakes and exhausts can be had here. clutchs can be had. turbos can be had. internals are the only thing that have to be ordered

im not quite sure what exactly makes an engine sexier than another but im pretty sure it has to do with whatever i say-muah ha ha ha. maybe its hot red top or its amazing easiness to put it in. very sexual.

nomore: too late in SCC there was a JDM S13 with the CA18DET in it, but im pretty sure not a lot of people had any idea the history behind it or kneww what it was. if your ogin for the strongest i hope you can beat 400hp. what was that to the wheels???

quick: IDK it's the look of hit, the stance, the likly hood of it being in someons car...alot of reasons!
