i was wondering if anyone was able to do this. im planning on getting a set of 2 10' alpine type E's (since 12's would be too big and the type R's is more than enough). BUT, i wanna keep our factory deck, because im pretty sure if i get an aftermarket one, the controls on my steering wheel will be useless.

any help or suggestions?

I still have my stock nav unit with my 2 10" alpine type X. I just spliced them into the 6x9 speaker wires. But you will get much better sound quality out of a after market deck and hooking them up via RCA. I plan on eventually getting a new deck but money is tight.

Check the FAQ. You can still use your steering wheel controls with and aftermarket deck!

depending on what your budget is, you can also install a top of the line digital sound processor like an audison bit one unit... and in addition to making your factory system(with Bose amp) sound better, you can also use the RCA outputs to send a cleaner, more powerful signal to your amplifier powering your woofers...
