ok, i'm considering buying a 92 240sx se, with 140k miles, for about 1200-1500, and i do have an actual car picked out, just its on ebay, and in pitsburgh, and i live in chicago. assuming the body is fine and all, are there any big problems i could have, and especially ones that i couldnt fix myself? I really want a 240sx, and its hard to find anything half deent for the $ i got

Don't buy cars from e-bay. It may seem like an attractive deal, but the sh*t and expenses you'll go through later isn't worth it. I would never buy a car I couldn't inspect myself and run a couple of tests on, compression is key.

I agree If you buy something big like a car you have to visually inspect it, hear it run, touch it and smell it. I know it sounds silly but you can tell alot about the car by doing this. and you can't do that over the internet. Just keep an eye out I know of one on the south side in blue island it looks pretty nice I let you know how much they want for it.

cool, the thing is, i got maybe under 2000 to spend on a car, and i love 240's, and i plan to get one to last me long enough til i can save up for a front end clip, or buy a real nice one that'll be fine to drive and wont die anytime soon

i just recently got a 240. best way is to actually see the car. I happened to be in FL and saw a seemingly baddass deal on ebay, and the place was real close. So I went to the place to check it out. The owner of the place wasnt there so like this skipper dude came out to open the garage to like 50 cars. So i sat in the car...

It was my first time sittin in a 240 and I fell in love, I asked the guy if I could test drive it and he told me no. I was like wtf. I said can I just start the car so I can hear the engine, skipper had to think about it and then said ok. he brought the keys and I couldnt even start the damn car. He got in the car and after like 30 secs of fussin he started the car to a horrendous sound. I was like holy s*** wtf was that.

Engine did not sound good. And then the owner guy came, and he was pissed as ****, he yelled at the skipper why did you start the car. Obviously something wrong I believe, I go ay man why doesnt the hood close, it dont say that on your ebay ad, and he got all wide eyed and was like that will be fixed.

As I walked to the rear I caught him tryin to force the hood to close. I saw the rear bumper on ebay it said it had paint chips. Oh hell no, the pics showed paint chips, but like that bumper had been bashed into and like they tried to pop it out. for a pic it looked like a good job. but you had to be there to see it.

So my point?? Check out the car before you buy it, ebayers are generally good people, but like you mite get ****ed up the *** if you arent circumspect. My two cents. peece, good luck findin a car, and be patient man your car will come.
