i got my lower intake mani back yesterday. my friend just welded all the holes inside and smoothed it out, nothing too special. if anyone else is interested in having him do this email or aim me(in my sig)lightweight flywheel for sr20, 10.6 pounds irc.my interior lol, removing sound deadaning, stereo and speaers, anything no use to me really.side of my garage, down pipes, manifolds and turbos, intakes etc. bucket seat and i think i have 20tires back there lol, about 8 es100s waiting to die lol. got 12 stock wheels lol:)my car, leaned up the engine bay removed like 30 pounds of grime lol. you can kinda see the valve covers awaiting more paint, flat black, and the cometic hg.

thats about it. man that sound deadaning sucks to take off, it just takes forever lol. im thinking about putting expansion foam in the frame, from what ive read when fully hardednd it stiffens the center of the chassy more than a roll cage, so its something to look into.matt

Actually there was a trick I remember from a while back to removing the sound deadening material. You are supposed to use DRY ICE. You put it on the material and it freezes the glue and you can pull the stuff right off! Super sweet tip from the old forum...

This is exactly what I was wanting to know. Is it an MLS HG? I called them and asked them about it before I put my motor together and they told me they weren't making them.

probably in a month or so, but i go to school in like 3 weeks, living on camups but its not to far away to come back, like 15 min lol.

mls? i dont know what that is, but this is a metal headgasket, my friend put me in contact with these guys, they can get vavle springs, cams, head gaskets alot of stuff for the ca. give them a call (im not affiliated with them in any way lol)

also, yesterday i probably removed about 40 pounds more, the seat bealt motors are heavy, speakers, more tar etc. now my slet belts are like normal seat blets, except you pull the strap part wrong way lol

So the SR fly just bolts up to the CA?? I'm guessing you would need a SR clutch as well.

a mate of mine started this butterflyless throttle body system on his CA that he's doing up, started it a few months ago.. fully opened up the head the whole lot, putting it into a series 3 bluebird.

Had my car dyno'd like 3 months ago...butterfly's were intact and had a small exhaust leak off the manifold (damn broken bolts!) pulled 257rwhp... I have a dyno session coming up...all I have done since then is we pulled the head, put in a new headgasket, ARP studs, new seals, REMOVED the butterfly's, and fixed the small Exhaust leak...So I will keep ya posted when I find out my NEW numbers to see how much of a difference it will make...I am not expecting much, prolly lower torque numbers in the low RPMS, but hopefully a small gain in HP in the higher RPMS...but overall drivability is still same down low, some people say that you will lose the Down low torque, but I really haven't noticed much of a difference...But I will leave it to the numbers!

As far as the butterflys go, most people don't have them hooked up correctly and so they DON'T notice a difference when they take them out.

To properly hook them up is covered in the STICKY'S but the long and the short of it is that you need to pull a wire out of the harness and connect it to a solenoid and hook it all up.

The problem is that when you simply reference it to vac, it doesn't stay shut when it needs to. For the system to work properly, the opening and shutting of the vavles needs to be RPM based. This could actually be accomplished with a little gismo that MSD (I think) sells that can control solenoids with an RPM imput. The switching point should be around 3500rpm.

When I get the car on the dyno, I'll have pics up (ofcourse). I plan on doing one run with the butterfly's open the entire pull, and then another one with the butterfly's closed the entire pull. That will do two things, first of all, it should tell us exactly how effective they really are, and at what RPM they should be switched back and forth.

So it's just an organic gasket? Screw that.... I already have a topline OEM gasket. Came with my $70 gasket set.
