If this is done, it needs to be where the black is just at the lowest section and stops at the first body lines from the ground.

Dark grey may be better than black.

Agreed about the location of the two-tone, but I don't know if dk gray would be better than black for this.

Though, I can't really point to a specific color that I think WOULD work better. The sapphire blue is kind of a hard color to work with as far as a contrast works, because it's such a bright color to begin with.

A light silver or white on top would be good with the blue on the bottom.

my paint guy really wants to two tone my car (blue on bottom), he said it would be a very dark charcoal grey (almost black) with a silver or grey line to contrast the colors. all i need to pay for is supplies hes will do free labor, but my co-signer doesnt like the idea of my painting a car this new...i think im going to save the $150 and tell my co-signer that hes is will do it for free.

Well, since you're not a minor, your co-signer can't take your car away from you for disrespecting their wishes.

Your co-signer might also be more apt to say OK if you explain that doing this will cost $150 now or $2000 later.

What he doesn't know is that he is going to rattle can it for $150! Paint costs a LOT more then $150 alone, not counting masking supplies and other stuff.

Let me do a breakdown of some of the costs involved in doing a complete repaint and repair.

1. Body Filler - $772. Sandpaper - $1123. Tape and masking paper - $854. Primer - $1715. Bascoat/Stripes - $4756. Clear $1257. Activators, catalysts, and reducers - $3318. Respirator and Spray Suit - $909. Cleanup Supplies - $53

TOTAL - $1,519 IN SUPPLIES ALONE! Now for what he would be doing, he won't need all of this, and that is just a minor repair! BUT he will need the following.

1. Sandpaper - $1122. Tape and making paper - $853. Primer - $1714. Basecoat/Stripes - $4755. Clear - $1256. Activators, catalysts, and reducers - $3317. Cleanup Supplies - $53

TOTAL - $1352

Paint is NOT cheap unless you are buying some off brand POS paint, or if he is planning on painting it with the good old "$50 paintjob" way with hardware store latex paint and mineral spirits with a clear over it, then yes, you probably could do it for $150.

If I was your co-signer and you did it, I would take the car away since legally it is also mine. Then take you to court and win the case for having modified the car when you knew the agreement for me to cosign was that you would not modify the car without prior consent.

BUT the car is yours, and do what you wish, but you obviously know NOTHING about car painting and restoration, otherwise you would have said for that price no. Friends will always give you a hook up and if they **** up, they will tell you, "well I gave you a good deal, so what's the problem?" Then you are STUCK.

Good Luck man!
