Just wanted to get some opinons/knowledge on putting together a CA18DET for a fwd 88 nx. I've been looking around....... most of the CA18DET's are out of the RWD vehicles and the front wheel drives dont usually come as a turbo. Could you give me some feedback on what I'll need. Should I start with a CA18DE non turbo and build up or start off with the CA18DET? Is the ECU diff between the two? What mods work best with these engines? What size intercooler/model/what size piping? Exhaust? Manifold? There is mention of using the ca16de cams? Turbo with bearings? What injectors to use? I know I'll need a stronger gear box and axles, does anyone know if any other nissan models would mate up and fit in nx? or would i have to get it custom made? And I know that you can swap in rear discs to this car does anyone know where or what model to look for? Thanks

You have a lot of questions my friend and a lot of people DO have rwd ca18det's so there is a not a lot of info out there for that particular setup.

I know for a fact that our mighty guru moderator Dee is an expert in your particular setup but I know that he is a busy man and you have to try to pick his brain for the info u need.

As for building a monster ca, there are a lot of resources out there and the engine has a lot of potential but you are going to have to do your research to find the formula to unlock the potential of this motor.

Just some info that will help u out:-the motor is very strong and can handle a lot of boost if tuned properly.-there is a lot of after market components out there available(ebay is your friend)-it is a very revvy motor so things like headwork and cams will be a definate plus when trying to build power.-nissan components are very interchangable so there are a lot of potential sources for stock components that are better for a performance setup.

Take this info and build your ca and represent the ca community and f*ck up those honda and sr fwd boys(and girls)

Thanks. I'll guess what I need to know first is what engine to start off with ca18de or ca18det? If I'm going to replace all the stock turbo parts on the ca18det is there any reason to start with that engine? Does anyone know how do reach Dee? I need to know if I the ECU for the CA18DE and CA18DET are the same.
