I actually got pulled over in the first 20 minutes of driving it, lol. 65 in a 40. With plates that expired in 2013. I recognized the guy as a deputy I've backed up on a domestic that was just outside our city limits. It's good to be a cop. :gapteeth:

Man, that would be a REALLY bad day around here...and I need a few friends in The Department, obviously!
It was awhile ago, but my own 65 in a 40 was DAMN expensive even after getting a little relief in court with a bogus excuse that it was my project car, test run, throttle "stuck"...hahahahaha. The look on the judge's face after I gave that excuse was worth the trip in itself.

My throttle actually did stick. My cable pulley was rubbing against the PCV tube. Had to knock it back in, haha.

Mine did that exactly as well, damn thing worked out and jammed the throttle open and I had to shut her down to get it fixed. I took pics for the judge but he didn't ask to see them as he was set in his assessment of my situation (fast modified car), and a small reduction (common) was the best I got just for showing up.

Well, I'm an idiot. So I've been troubleshooting my idle issues (dying on startup, dying when clutch is pressed in from higher revs, no fast idle, ect)

Figured it out this morning. So when I installed my bigger turbos with the bigger exhaust manifolds, it raised my turbo outlet hardpipe up a bit. It had a straight piece of hose on it from the previous owner, instead of the 90 degree bend it was supposed to have. Never had an issue with it before, but that little bit of raise to it has kinked it closed. Go figure. I noticed while assembling, and then it slipped my mind once I turned the key, haha. Squeezed the hose, idle shot up. Durrr. Super simple fix. Was thinking I was gonna have to track down even more vacuum leaks after everything had settled and gone through a couple of heat cycles, but that's all it was.

Never a bad thing when we find the problem, and it's good when we can easily fix the damn thing (for once) without a 3-ring circus.
Speaking of which, mine has just gave me gas fumes yesterday which of course resulted in a fuel line clamp tightening session, 3rd this year and yeah- they were all pretty loose again, as always. I HATE THE FUEL LINE CLAMP BATTLE WITH THE Z32!!!
So with the idle also a bit fuzzy it's time for the fall engine bay run, servicing EVERYTHING...filters, clamps, hoses, elec. connectors, brakes (PS caliper is sticking on occasions), you name it. Ya-hooooooo

We knew what we were getting into with these cars.

I'm sincerely surprised you haven't updated to the GTR-style clamps though. I did em through this rebuild, and it is SO worth it knowing I never have to look at the clamps again.

Yep, definitely knew the downsides...but the clamps take the cake.
Never heard of the GTR-style clamps, and I did ask my guy who also is a GTR guy and he didn't mention them...got a link to them? I'd LOVE to forget about them!

Oh dude it's a game changer. They're self tightening double rate spring clamps.

https://conceptzperformance.com/nissan- ... p_5657.php

They don't need to be adjusted.

Awesome, THANK YOU!
I'll be ordering them ASAP, it'll be worth the hassle to hopefully never touch them again.

Gotta give you serious props on your build, Ace. Very impressive. Also, thank you for documenting for the rest of us here - it's not only good to just read, but surely some of the discoveries you made along the way will help others out. While I have nowhere near the aspriations you had on your build, whatever failures I encounter will determine how deep I get into this things. It's good to know I've got a good place to go to ask for help.

Damn, I'm honestly excited Aaron. It must feel amazing being near the end of this project. The small projects I've done make me feel good when I finish and everything bolts up nicely and works as it should.

Count the bolt holes, y'all.
Not sure what's more impressive. The fact that that turbo is so big, or the fact that your stature makes that turbo look small.

I decided while I do the weight reductions associated with AIV, carbon can & other small deletes, it would be smart to reduce my own weight. I think it's fair to say I've matched the car's weight loss. Of course I could kill for a cheesesteak, though.

Whatever happened to Ace anyhow?
