Build separate engine or use one in car?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Im planning a fairly extensive NA buildup for my S13, and plan on using the car as a daily driver and also road racer. My question is this: would it be wiser to buy a KA and build it, then drop it in the car or buy all the parts and put them in the engine i currently have.Plans are as follows:HeadersPulleysCamsHigh(er) comp. pistonsshort runner intake or ITB??? something else?

i've never swapped an engine, so i dont know what would be easier. i know a lot of these things might require the engine to be yanked anyway. might as well start with a new motor, and mine has 165K mi.this is also future, i dont have the money for all of this at once, hence the idea of building a project KA separately...-Enzo

is the car your daily driver? if it is, buy the separate engine. if its not, rebuild what you have. you pretty much have to do that for either engine. but it would be easier and cheaper to build what you have.

its amazing how the brain can process information, yes its a daily, read. since it is ur daily, and since u have 165k on the clock, i would buy a new motor, you can find em on ebay or whatever for 3-500 depending on a lot of factors, but its whatever works best for you really, and with the money issue, u could get the motor and start accumulating the parts, thats what i did for my sr

daily or not... with 165K I would get a new engine with less then 20K and rebuild it, yes there are altimas with 230K+ that are still running (by an act of god i'm sure).its only an extra $700+ (the price of cams)
