We're all car guys / gals, which means we certainly don't JUST wrench on Nissans!

Our long-time staffer Seth (Eikon) has several amazing projects under his belt (some of you may remember his beautiful RB-powered S13 convertible). Most recently, he engineered a brake swap to upgrade the Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S to use 30mm 300ZX calipers and bigger rotors!

Here's the article: Budget BBK! 300ZX Brake Upgrade for FRS/BRZ

We hope you enjoy this one, and feel free to ask Seth any questions in this thread! :dblthumb:

Now, just add 60hp to the car, and it'll be great.

10-4.. needs about 100 hp and it'll be awesome.

These calipers feel a lot better to me. I haven't tracked it yet so I can't say first hand that they are better at shedding heat.. but they have to be based on the bigger rotors. thumbs up from me!

I'm doing it. Couldn't find info on rear install. Any tricks, issues? Thanks

I gotta say, ran a quick search for those z32 30 mm calipers and they truly are hard to find. I think FR sport was the only place I could come up with besides ebay. Though even 10 years since I went to the q45 brakes, I still can't see any reason for the z32 ones except for the bling factor. lol.

I was just having a convo with a guy on FB who has a clean set for $300. I've been after a set for my Roadster.

You need KNS brackets for the rear.. otherwise the stock BRZ rotors and the Z32 calipers and pads.. plus lines of course

Lots of techinical details and install pics in this thread.. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthre ... z32+brakes

Greg I have a used pair of fronts (aluminum 30mm) in my garage and I think I might have a rebuild kit along with them. Would take some labor to refinish and repaint, but certainly can be done. Let me know if you want them.

I'll start digging through my piles in the garage to get to them.. then shoot you some pictures, etc. Might be a week or two.. life's pretty busy at the moment.

I just got mine through the local automotive parts store.
Freakin loaded calipers were like 90 bucks each... but that was 10 years ago.

$62.99 per caliper at O'reilley. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/searc ... ke+caliper

I'm actually impressed. From the picture, they look like the aluminum calipers. Very nice.

That's not a bad price, too bad, means I have to lower the asking price of mine. If you look at the other pictures you can tell they are iron by the casting marks.

Nahbro. A 91 TT only got aluminums. And the aluminum ones have those horizontal lines in them. The iron ones were almost completely smooth.

Chiggity check it:

So they are, holy crap. I stand corrected good sir. The castings still look wierdly iron to me, it may be because of that gunmetalish coating.

Awesome writeup on this conversion,I just have one nagging question that's holding my build up. On the Enjuku Racing website the 300ZX->240SX conversion SS line kit from ISIS comes in two flavors: one for the S13 and one for the S14. Which is the correct fitment for the BRZ/FRS?

I used S14, but I would be surprised if the S13 didn't work just as well.

I never did finish this project. I wound up selling the car because I got sick of making payments on a nearly new car that sat in the garage 5 months and I only drove about 5k miles per year. I was going to paint the fronts and apply proper subaru stickers and then do the rear conversion as well.. I just never got around to it.
