broke stud on the camshaft where cas goes

i broke the half-circle stud that is on the cam gear/camshaft that goes to the cas can it still run and be reliable without it or do i need to get a new exhaust cam or cam gear

need a new exhaust cam... that's vital to making the car run. how the heck did you manage to break that?

your car wont run without the CAS. it tells the motor when to fire.

that half moon is just press fit in there, if you can drill it and tap it so you can get a bolt screwed into it, a slide hammer would work better, and yank that sucker out. then get another lil half moon thingamagic, and pound that sucker in. ive got one from a 300zx which should be the same.

you'd have to put it in exactly the same.. or near enough you could 'fix' the timing by rotating the cas..

use the busted exhuast cam as a high lift intake cam and get another exhuast cam.

A good idea but you'll have to time it up, you can't just drop it straight in, but it's about 1 tooth I think. I'm using a HKS 264 exh on my intake. Haven't ran the motor up yet though to set it up properly.

I've broke one before, right arse (***?) it was too.

My RB cam did, I broke one too. It a sick feeling when you realize what has happened
