Bought a 2007 Spec-V yesterday. It was idling rough. Today when we tried to start it, it was dead. It was like there was not even a battery in the car. Checked the battery and it is fully charged. Anyone had similar problem or have any suggestions. Will call the dealer on Monday to pick up the car. Thanks

The battery connections appear to be good. Other suggestions?

Oy, maybe this new 2.5 isn't fixed.

I think you're stuck til you talk to the dealer. These cars are so new that there aren't any known common issues yet.

Is the starter clicking?

Turn the key to on, but don't try to start it. Does the fuel pump whine like it's priming?

Nothing happens when I turn the key. No lights, no sounds...absolutely nothing. The hazard lights won't even work. My husband disconnected the battery and the positive connector broke when he was putting it back on, so I'm calling the dealership first thing in the morning. My brother said he had a similar problem when he bought his '03 Altima and it ended up being a bad battery cable. I'm hoping that's all mine is. Thanks for your help.

I'd venture to say it's probably something simple like that, then. Good luck!

I ended up buying an '07 Sentra and the dealer said that if you use another key on accident, that the car gets shut down and has to be towed to a dealership to get rebooted or what have you. Is that a possibility?

Doesn't sound like they used a non-immobilizer-equipped key.

We have only used the keys issued with the car in the ignition. The dealership is ordering a new positive battery cable and connector that should be in tomorrow. I'll post what I find out then.

Any news on what the deal was?

They said it was the battery terminal. They hooked it back up to the computer and said that a code having to do with the keys came up, so they're reprogramming the keys this afternoon. Once they've done that they'll run the diagnostics again to make sure they have it all fixed. Should have the car back tomorrow. Who knew that a bad battery terminal would take 3 days to fix?

Now they're saying that there's a short in the wiring harness. We have talked with Nissan Customer Care and they mentioned replacing my car with an identical one. A regional supervisor should be contacting me within 48 hours, so we'll see what happens with that. Oh, and we are going to be reimbursed for the $90 not covered on the tow.

I own an 07 SE-R (not spec V). It has been good to me so far. No problems whatsoever. I had read about an issue with the intelligent keys, where if you put them too close to your cell phone and get an incoming call, there is a slight chance that the key can become deactivated.

This affects all of Nissan/Infiniti's cars with the intelligent key system.

My car does not have the intellikey start system. Nissan is giving me a new car, though. They started the paperwork on Friday and I should be in my car on Tuesday. In the meantime, the dealership has given me a brand new Altima to drive because I couldn't handle the ash tray with wheels and DNA infested seats that I got from Enterprise. Nissan has taken care of me throughout the ordeal, and particularly Jerry's Nissan in Weatherford, Texas. They've been awesome!

They like to talk about what they're going to do to fix the problem, but I'm losing faith. It's been over two weeks (I've gotten a bill for my first payment) and I still don't have the car I bought. They have until Friday before I start calling lawyers.

It turns out that my car actually caught on fire while the dealership was trying to fix it (a short in the wiring harness). I have talked to at least a dozen Nissan people, from dealership personnel to customer service people to arbitration people. I have left countless messages that haven't been returned, including a message to the owner of the dealership where I bought the car. The replacement car has been sitting at the dealership for a week now, but I can't pick it up until Nissan figures out how to do the paperwork on it. Jerry's has called me into their dealership (45 miles from my house) to sign paperwork from Nissan to "expedite the process". The manager is furious with Nissan because I'm still no closer to getting my car. Jerry's Nissan has been awesome (thank god I didn't have to go back to the one where I bought the car). They're fed up as well -- they're getting the same answers that I'm getting, which means they aren't getting answers. They've given me the names and phone numbers of everyone they've talked to, hoping that talking to a paying customer would motivate them to speed up the process--it didn't. If I ever do buy another Nissan it will ONLY be to repay Jerry's Nissan in Weatherford, TX for all the help they have given me.

Sorry to write a book, but it's playing out like a bad movie. I hope I'm not the only one surprised by this whole ordeal.

I finally got my replacement car today. I picked it up at about 1:30, and my husband and I go sign the last of the paperwork tomorrow. It only took 26 days. The new car runs great, though. It's finally OVER!!!

I'm new to the forums here, just bought a 2007 Sentra SL 2.0 Fully Loaded, which has the "Intelligent Key" and the dealership also mentioned not keeping the key and the phone in the same pocket or purse. Thought that was kind of odd, hopefully the keys are coverd too!

Glad to hear things finally worked out with the new car!
