Short the wires.

The sensor is a wear sensor, not an ABS sensor.

Don't confuse the red brake light with the " brakes pads worn" message on the diagnostic display.

Red light = emergency brake on or fluid low in master cylinder [or a bad level switch].

Which sensors did you replace? From your post it looks like maybe the expensive ABS sensors? The sensors that put this message on your dash are part of the OEM brake pad assembly.

not to piss off anybody but im not retarded, on the display message in the dash it reads "brake pads worn" and i know that the sensor in the pad is the wear sensor, i have replaced both the abs sensor and the wear sensor in both the front and the rear, i am very aware that the abs light on the dash means somethings wrong with the abs, and the "brake" red light means ebrake is applied or in some vehicles it means a brake light is out... with the new wear sensor replaced how do i turn of the message in the dash "brake pads worn"?????

I don't think you are going to piss anyone off... we just like to make sure. We've had plenty of people accidentally tap that emergency brake pedal while entering/exiting their Q and then ask questions about their brake light. BTW... please click the link in my sig. One great way to convince everyone that you're "not retarded" is to use proper punctuation and capitilation. :-)

So... either there is an issue with how the sensor reset, an issue with the installation, or some other issue that I am not aware of that would cause that message to trip in the computer.

I might try unplugging the wear sensor harness at the caliper and cleaning with some electrical parts cleaner. Maybe put some non-corrosive conductive lubricant on there. Vaseline maybe? Check to make sure the plug has actually seated properly... mine always seems to be a fight to get it to actually plug all the way. I had to use pliers to get it to actually "snap" in place last time I did it. If that doesn't clear the message... try unplugging your battery for a minute or two and then plugging it back in. That will give computers time to clear any current messages.

If it is still reading a warning for brakes after that... then you need more epxertise than I can provide. Tech, Wes, or someone will be able to offer more insight. Good luck.

The wear sensors are stupid anyway....... dont waste your time with them, short the leads on the sensor together and throw that thing in the garbage (or return it from wherever you got it)..

inspecting brake pad linings is part of your 90 day required servicing anyway!

For a disrespectful comment like that you will be plagued with a 1000 difficult to trace electrical intermintents plus frogs and locusts.

They are so stupid that MB and others use them in current models.

The brake pad worn circuit is so simple both front and rear are in series and finally terminate in a chassis ground.............so the system is real time no light the terminal is ground........open circuit at any sensor lifts the ground.

I understand their use and why they are there, but I dont see any reason spenidng unnecessary money to make them work when you should regularly inspect your brake pads anyway!!! If your "brake pads worn" indication comes on, then theyre already worn down too far for my tastes anyway!

a wear sensor pisses me off much like TCS does... i dont like a car telling me whats going on, i dont like a car driving me, TCS is for people that dont know how to steer a car in a skid or understand the dynamics of a car in motion.... F brake sensors
