Hey im commin up on about 27,000 miles on my 2006 Z and was just wonderin in general how long the breaks on this car should last? I know some of this varies due to driving style but in general does anyone know how long they tend to last?

Mine went out around 26k. I switched to Hawk HPS pads and they are amazing. Especially since I don't have to wash my rims every other day.

You're might be the first person I've known to say that the Hawk HPS pad (for the Z33) is amazing. Most times I read or hear about how anemic their performance is. They do seem to have a pretty low dust level and seem relatively cheap though. I run HPS pads on my S13 and I think they are an amazing upgrade over stock, but then I use SPL steel brake lines, powerslot rotors and Dot 4 fluid too, so I'm sure its not the pad alone.

27K sounds like a decent lifespan for pads - it is just pads isn't it? Just as in tires, there are some compromises to be had in terms of performance vs lifespan when it comes to pads. All other things being equal, I wouldn't expect the same performance from Hawk HPS pads as I would from a set of Ferodo 2500's, but I would certainly expect a longer pad life.

Brembos on your 350 or no?

Nope none brembos, and still have the same set of tires also which i REALLY need to change soon as well, but the reason i was asking is becauses my break pads havent shown any sign of them needing to be changed but i dont want to risk messing anything up like the rotors by keepin them when they should be changed.

the HPS is a good street pad, mildly better than stock, but still not so abrasice they eat your rotors, for those who want a little more the HP+ is a bit more aggressive and noisy

So then when do you think i should need new brakes? Should i just wait for them to start to sound funny and then change them right away after that? I guess my biggest thing is that i really dont want to screw up my rotors or anything else.

Bump

So will waiting for them to start to squeek hurt my rotors or will changing them just as this starts to happen be fine?
