Me again! Yeah my QX4 has a lot of problems.

My brake switch pad has disappeared (or maybe I never had one. This is a salvage after all) and I need to buy a new one. I've had a quick look around and found these on Amazon for 10 bucks less than the genuine Nissan part and was wondering if they would work.

The shape kind of looks the same and I would like to save some money if I could, but I figured I should check with you guys first in case any of you have experience with replacing these.

Thanks!

EDIT: Found some genuine ones on Ebay! Cheap and free shipping.

Go for the genuine article. Those Dorman pieces are meant for Acura and Honda models so they might not fit right. https://www.dormanproducts.com/gsearch. ... rd&q=74015

Yeah, speaking from experience - buy OEM. It's a pain in the backside to get the "button" installed and the price seems pretty high for something so small. But, one and done!

And you don't have to repeat it again two years later.

I ended up putting a bolt and wing nut in there. The part is still on the way, but this will do for now... Though I don't think I want to get down there again, so maybe I'll just leave it.

Most if not all of the brake switches on Amazon, eBay and local autoparts retailers (e.g. Auto Zone, O' Reilly, Advance Auto Parts, etc.) are not correct. I've bought one from Amazon and one from AutoZone and both were both had the incorrect blade size and body size. The blade size on my 2001 Infiniti QX4 are small compared to what is sold as aftermarket compatible switches. The problem with most of the pictures provided with the ads for Amazon and eBay is they don't show an end view of the terminals to determine the size of the terminals. For those that do you can see they all have larger terminal blades.

See OneDrive picture links below of my original brake switch (Tan Color) with the small blade terminals (left) vs aftermarket brake switch (Black) with larger blade terminals (right) and different switch body.

What are the forums recommendation for online discount factory Infiniti part distributors. I need to check local dealer too but I know they'll be expensive.

I used my OneDrive link with the the Image option. I guess I'll try the URL option. If that doesn't work I don't know how to send my image. I've never had a problem with my OneDrive link not working. The link is both pics I previously linked.

Nissan cruise switches are almost always brown. I think you have the brake and cruise switches mixed up.

I think your right. Thx for the info. I did not know that there were too switches and of course the brake lamp switch which is above the ASCD switch is the more difficult of the two to replace. Not sure how I'm going to get it out and reinstalled.

Nah, I still got a nut on there. Seems to be working fine. I did purchase it though.
