I posted one earlier but that post was not working... How would you do maintence or take care of your rotors... aftermarket rotors. Mine seem to rust or turn reddish in color. Thanks A Bunch.

Other then painting the part that doesn't come into contact with the pad a high temp corrosion resistant paint nothing. Rotors rust and there's nothing you can do about it other then never get them wet and store them in a moisture free environment. As far as long term care, don't ever spray water directly onto the rotors when hot. That'll cause warpage which is bad ummkaayyy.

Mayhem, this might have been discussd before, but I did a search and found nothing. I know people resurface their rotors when they change their brake pads, but what if you have aftermarket rotors that are cross-drilled, slotted, or both? Are there any maintenence issues concerned with them? Will they go through as much wear as the stock discs provided that they are used in the same manner and therefore ever need to be resurfaced?

Zinc coating is offerred with some rotors local shop around here offers it w/ brembos.Reduces rust for a while I figure. When washing car wait till rotors are cool, dry them up if you get a lot of water on them.(Barring you can reach them behind your rims)Warpage will occur as stated also overtightening of lug nuts.

S13Owner all rotors will eventually need to be resurfaced aftermarket stock, due to glazing, not replacing pads, etc. Mainly what the aftermarket dimpled/slotted/crossdrilled/etc. is just provide some air flow thru them to keep them cooler thus less brake fade.

yeah i've seen the zinc coatings and it's pretty much for show. so that way when you open the box there isn't some rusted disc sitting in there. looks bad. besides think, until recently most people never see their rotors on a regular basis. with open wheels now you see them every time you look at the car.

Thanks for the reply KFL. I was thinking that since the rotors are drilled/slotted/both, resurfacing them would in some way be detrimental to the effectiveness of the design. In other words, I thought that you can't resurface them due to the holes, slots, etc. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
