Hi all,

I was hoping the board could help me with a question I have about a brake issue I am having with a 2000 I30t.

Yesterday while slowing down at a light it felt like while I was pushing the brake that the pressure was "bumpy" or rough, and then just gave way. For a second I thought I lost my brakes so I turned, but then I did some quick tests and realized that my brakes were indeed working. Driving the rest of the way the brakes seemed softer or as if they were not stopping as well as they were before. As if now I have to push further on the pedal to stop the car at a slower rate then before.

On the way home I noticed for a couple blocks what sounded like clicking sound from one of the right side wheels when I gave the car gas, but that sound went away the next time I drove the car.

I have not had any lights come up on the dash, but something definitely feels different about the brakes. Can someone give me some guidance?

It sounds like air in your brake fluid. I would stop driving the car and check for leaks as soon as possible! My first guess would be a leaky master cylinder, but it could be any number of things. First step though, is look for leaks...

Should I just need to look under the car for a puddle to check for these leaks? I am just starting to learn more about cars now

First, get the FSM and do a complete brake fluid replacement.

Then, after you clen it all up, you should check the master cylinder and the caliper connections for any sign of a leak.
