Hello!

I finally got the truck back on the road, only to find out that my brake lights won't go out - not even when the front lights are out. In order to keep them off, I had to remove the fuse. When I try to replace the fuse, the box sparks, and the brake lights go on, but again, they do not go out. Also, the turn signals don't seem to work, either.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you!

While diagnosing the turn signals may end up being quite difficult, start with the switch (just above the pedal) as far as diagnosing the brake lights. There may just be a simple fix there!

Thanks PEZi,

I've ordered a new brake switch, and i'm hoping that will take care of the brake light problem. Where should I begin with the turn signals?

Take a good hard look at the multifunction switch. Mine was NASTY inside I cleaned up the terminal contacts and its as good as new.

Okay, I cleaned out the malfunction switch (lots of oxidized contacts), and now the right turn signal works, but the left one won't blink - it just stays on. Any advice on that one?

By the by, thanks for the tip on the malfunction switch!

(Sorry for the duplicate. Tried to just edit the last post, but it didn't bump the topic.)

I think Id be looking at a burned out bulb. Something isn't putting enough load on the thermal flasher to make it trip.

Did the brake switch fix your brake light problem?

I'm picking up the brake light switch this afternoon, and I'll grab a new bulb while I'm there. Updates to come...

Thank you!

Yeah, when the light just stays solid rather than flashing, it means you have a burnt bulb on that side.

Down here its different. When the bulb is burnt out the light flashes very fast.
