Ok here is the problem. I opened my trunk one day. When I went to drive it away the vdc, slip and abs lights came on and I couldnt get car to go out of park. After searching I found threads about brake switch. I replaced the switch and it was fine. Opened trunk few days later and same thing. Got new switch still didnt fix problem. Checked fuse inside under dash fuse blown for brake lights. Replaced it it was fine until I opened trunk again. Kept blowing fuses. So after searching threads again I checked wires going from trunk lid to car, wires were fraid. I fixed the wires one at a time. A few days later my brake lights came on and wont go off. I have to pull the fuse in order to get them to go off. Now my car wont down shift if I try to pass and the vdc, slip and abs lights on dash come on after about ten min of driving. I have checked to see if there is power at the stop switch and there is power to both sides of the wires so it seams to me that there is a wire or relay or something that is wrong from the brake lights to the front. Does anyone have any suggestions as I dont have the money to let a mechanic spend 8 hours giagnosing the problems. Let me know thanks.

Yikes! First I would check the wires again...and you need to figure out why they were frayed to begin with (not a normal problem). Use the FSMs (link in my sig) for wiring diagrams to make sure you've corrected the problem. Look for any burn spots in the wire or were it could be pinched.

Thank you. Unfortunately I totaled my coupe last night in the snow. Loved the car but man it was horrible in the snow and the guard rail decided ot liked my car more lol. So im not sure what is going to happen now but I appreciate the reply. Have a blessed day.

Oh no! :frown:

I hope you had a good insurance policy.

Makes me nervous about the next few days in Minneapolis. I drove home today in heavy sleet which is supposed to continue into the morning. Then we have a high of -10 F to look forward to on Monday. Considering it's supposed to something like -30 in the morning... not even sure I want to try and start my car.

I'm just glad I got snow tires, but sometimes a patch of ice has your name on it and there is nothing you can do.

I hope it wasn't because of the brake lights! Glad you're okay.

State Farm......I waited for over 5 hours for the tow truck and when he got there he couldn't even tow it out from behind the guard rail. I am OK, car is not. I loved the car so I guess its time to go shopping for a newer one.......
