I recently bought a 1985 300zx it's a manual, turbo, and it's been having some issues with the lights. The headlights work fine, but the all the rear lights are doing some strange things.

The brake lights work fine with the headlights and taillights off, but once I turn them on, the passenger brake light doesn't come on. When I push the brake pedal, the driver brake light goes on, and the passenger side goes out completely. Once I let off the pedal, it comes back on. For good measure the reverse lights aren't working either, but I can live with that for the time being, I would like to get the brake/tail lights fixed so I can drive it. :D

I know nil about car electrical stuff, but I can learn anything. :) Anyone have an idea where to begin troubleshooting?

2 possible issues
there si a control box between the passanger tail light and the interior trim panel, it could be geeked, but first thing I'd do is have a good hard look at the sockets and wiring, sometimes a bad corroded socket or a bad ground can cause these sort of issues, there is one or 2 grounds behind the interior panels back there, I'd take them off and start looking

I had a good look at the light sockets and wires, and it turned out that the bulbs were just seated in there weird or something. A little wiggling around and they started working fine.

Thanks for your help!
