Brake lightsand brake center light stay lit all the time even when ignition is off.
1996 Q 178,000 miles bought new.
Hope this is not the start of electrical problems.

Also no warnings on dash.

Correct guess!

Typically there's a little rubber or plastic plug in a tab on the side of the pedal that releases the brake light switch. It can pop out or break.

I've glued a small disc of metal (or a penny) over the hole before as a fix. Works great!

Yeah I have used the penny fix myself on my first Q. I ordered the green nipple and never installed It as the penny works fine. Not sure if i still have it lying around. Look on your carpet for green plastic pieces

I'd not get upset about electrical gremlins based on what you have presented.
I'd agree that it's most likely related to the pedal switch, but let me also offer that it could be an inferior aftermarket switch itself.
I (reluctantly) used a generic part about 7 years ago on the '95 because I wanted to fix the issue that day. About 4 years later, the lights turned on when I happened to be on a business trip with car parked at airport. Being that I have a Northstar Group 27 AGM with an obscene storage capacity, It damn near caught the car on fire (florida in October) being closed up and illuminating the incandescent bulbs for days until the AGM depleted. I still want to replace the insert for the high mount brake light when one pops up, because mine is now partially melted and the plastic so brittle it doesn't hold the bulbs as designed anymore.
But I digress.
Order part number SWITCH, BRAKE- NISS#25320-75A0E
and rest easy.
Note that you (mechanic) may need to "rig" the height of the switch slightly relative to the brake Pedal so that it never comes on when you are not stepping the pedal, but comes on just after first motion of the pedal. Page BR-8 of the FSM has the picture, I chose not to measure, but to tweak and verify until the rigging was to my liking.

It was the Brake Pedal Pad Stoppers. $154.00 including labor. Not bad I guess. The Infiniti of San Francisco has closed their doors. The worst service department ever.

I have a great independent mechanic who loves my Q.
His garage is always full repairing Mercedes Benz and BMW's transmissions out of warranty..... all the way to the bank
