I recently got my 240SX, a 1992 Coupe, and the only thing really wrong with it is that the Brake lights do not turn off by themselves.

If I park the car and turn the car off, the brake lights still stay on. Someone told me to checked the fuses and the brake fluid level. I did and there are no problems there.

The only way I can turn them off, so I do not drain the battery, is to disconnect the connector to the sensor by the brake pedal. I therefore think that it has something to do with that sensor, but I do not know what to do from there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am talking about the brake(stop) lights on the rear off the car that brighten when you push the brake pedal down.

It's probably just a bas brake light switch. Remove the switch and check it with an ohmmeter or continuity checker.

Better yet leave it mounted, just disconnect the wires and continuity the terminals. They should be open circuit until the pedal is pushed.
