You'll need to get bulbs from Infiniti. Aftermarket bulbs aren't made to the same "standard" and don't allow the system to get the proper reading to turn the message off.

I have a similar problemAbout a month ago, suddenly the brake warning light came on. It is on whenever I step on brake. First, I couldnt find anything wrong but I realized that the taillight wasnt functioning. I don't know how to change them. Should I change them or take it to the Infiniti dealer (I guess this is the only option referring to the previous messages)?

I highly encourage you to read your owner's manual. If you don't have one, might see if you can download one at http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/infiniti/. Ebay may have some dead tree versions available.

Which "bulp" is it? All are easily accessible. Perhaps Infiniti is afraid owners will use non-OEM bulbs. I will check my manual.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

I dont even know how to remove the light since it is not in the manuals. they are not in that website either. If someone can tell me how to remove them, i can give you the bulp number.

The closet easiest to find bulb to oem [Toshiba] are the Sylvania LL [long life].......inexpensive chain store bulbs even Slyvania regular have low quality bayonet tips which melt/soften under load causing problem with the sockets.

Tighten the silver Phillips screws on the socket assembly.

You can get the socket assy (the thing that you put the new bulbs into).... Im gonna do that here really soon, as soon as I drop my bank account into infiniti of scottsdale for my projects... :)

What circuit board are you talking about....? Just to verify that we are on the same page, are you talking about the stop lights on the very rear of the car, or the high mounted stoplight in the interior of the car.....?

Couldn't you measure the resistance from the center conductor to the outer casing with a meter? You should be able to see if your socket is defective or compare the resistance (center to outer case) on the light bulbs to see if it is a bulb.

Or you can just tell by looking at it..... If the area around the bulb socket looks like its been burnt (slight browness) that means they are done, or near done..... Its only like $5 from Joe......

brake lamp in-op message on while depresing pedal and all lamps illuminate ?? first check the high mount bulbs, they must be 18 watt. and try to bend the contacts inward a bit in order to snug up the cotact to the bulb itself. also the Q is equiped with a tail lamp sensor (located in the rear cargo area). two things 1 a melted solder on one or more pins ( on the board itself ) this can be easly repaired but may require a magnify glass to spot it. 2 a burned diode on the board. this will require replacment of the tail lamp sensor.
