Bose Radio PLS help

OK i have a 2002 pathfinder with bose 6 disc changer, enough said. the radio began not responding in cold weather this winter until the vehicle ran for about 5 mins or so. then the radio screen would not light up and would not turn on, but i could hear the changer making noise when i plugged in the harness in the back. radio fuse is good, amp fuse is good. Went to the junkyard today, my friend let me try a non bose radio from a altima, plugged it in, lit up no problem, all functions seemed to work except no sound. now the plugs are the same so i figgured that a non bose with high level speaker outputs would still produce noise through the amp even if it was not pleasant. i left my testlight at work, cannnot check for power, but amp fuse is good. are the known amplifier problems i should know about possibly? Please any help would be greatly appreciated, if it were a GM vehicle i'd be fine, but im not much of a nissan tech.

My bose deck never worked right in the cold, CDs always skipped. So I started using my MP3 player with the cassette adapter. Then recently I just blew both my front speakers so I just replaced everything, new deck, new amp, new speakers and it sounds so much better.

i think that the bose radio sux..if i was you just get a aftermarket double din...looks nicer and sounds better and has more options....just what i think..

you can check my site i put in a screen and just add 2 subs everything else is still bose and sounds great to me

I've been installing car electronics professionally for years now and the Nissan Bose systems have sucked the whole time. Not just Pathfinders, but EVERYTHING. Bose should have stuck with making home speakers. My advice, just replace the head unit. You MIGHT have to bypass the amp, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

eh i dunno i heard some newer chevy trucks with bose that sound like they have a professional system installed so i wouldnt say all bose sucks

It sounds good for the 1st year or 2... after that the wear and tear, heat, and cold gets to the speakers. Bose is still using paper cones with foam surrounds. The higher end aftermarkets are using rubber and plastic. MUCH more durable...

yea my bose was pretty bad. Paper cones just like you said. it actually sounded decent (for a stock system), way better than most factory systems, but nowhere near the quality of what i have now (roughly 1000w rms)
