This is incredible. Check out the videos.

I've been doing some research on the MBenz ADS (Adaptive Dampening Suspension) on the 96-98 SL600 -- potentially my new "toy".

Anyway, I ran across what Bose is doing with active suspension R&D. I'm stunned. Just watch the videos. Simply amazing...I want this for my Q...

I guess they needed to use the '94 Lexus to get the extreme boat-wallowing effect for the suspension video.

We actually had a thread about this a while ago, texas oil said that its not really feasible because the amount of power that it requires to make those things work it doesnt turn out to be really effective at the end of the day...

At the minimum it would require a 42volt electrical system, something that has been coming next year for the last six years.

Hopefully they'll use good capicitors on their control boards

Maybe it will be a Canada only option, eh?

The following below is an excerpt that I took from the Bose website explaining how the Suspension gets power.

The Power Amplifier

"The power amplifier delivers electrical power to the motor in response to signals from the control algorithms. The amplifiers are based on switching amplification technologies pioneered by Dr. Bose at MIT in the early 1960s — technologies that led to the founding of Bose Corporation in 1964.

The regenerative power amplifiers allow power to flow into the linear electromagnetic motor and also allow power to be returned from the motor. For example, when the Bose suspension encounters a pothole, power is used to extend the motor and isolate the vehicle's occupants from the disturbance. On the far side of the pothole, the motor operates as a generator and returns power back through the amplifier. In so doing, the Bose suspension requires less than a third of the power of a typical vehicle's air conditioner system."

The way I understand it is that each linear motor acts as a generator when they are rebounding and in turn recharge the amplifier so that it doesn't require as much power from the alternator.

Isn't the Q45 active designed to ride the same way, or is it not as smooth as the Bose Lexus? Very impressive videos.
