Hey all, I have a 1991 NA 2+2. Now, I know the easiest way to boost an NA is to buy a used front clip. Problem is all these are JDM which I hear much more bad than good about. I currently have an extra NA engine sitting on a stand that I plan to throw TT heads on and lower compression foraged pistons as well as a complete rebuild before I throw turbos on it. Unfortunately, this build is gonna take around 2 years, buying parts here and there.

Now, in the mean time, I'd like some more power. From what I've read, 6psi is pretty safe on an NA engine and should bring around 300HP. I saw a guy on here that did a rear turbo set up that I was gonna take a shot at if I can pull it off for a good price. My biggest problem is sizing a single turbo for the car. I found a Garrett T25 for a great price but I'm not sure if it would be undersized. I only want 6psi but don't want any problems with uncontrollable boost and/or too much back pressure. Any input on if a T25 would work or do I need to go something closer to a T3?

Again, I realize this isn't an ideal set up and I will have a "standard" set up in the future but the rear turbo can be done economically while I build up my future setup. Any constructive input would be appreciated.

Based on what I've done to my 2+2, you can get 300 out of it without going turbo. Start with getting rid of the airbox and putting in a mushroom cold air intake and replacing the stock exhaust with headers and new exhaust... here's the best bang for your buck imo.

What have you done? There has been many guys that has tried to get the most HP out of a NA engine and I don't think any of them have gotten to 300 hp. This is including extensive engine work, tune, and bolt on.

Not saying its not possible, just saying it would be way more expensive than doing a TT swap. with much more potential.
