hey everyone,

now that i finally have my car in one piece(knock on wood) im looking to install my manual boost controller. i bought the turbosmart kit as it has a solid rating. ive hooked up my gt28rs with equal length hose from both waste gates and t'eed them together. my pressure source is right off the nipple on the passenger side hard hose next to the radiator. i got the car to operating temp and took it for a spin. i had the controller maxed out on the negative side, should have been 14psi, it pulled close to 22 psi before i could get off it. im not sure if i did the correct instal or if im possibly missing something. not sure if i should be venting to my BOV or what. if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I JUST WANA DRIVE!!!! lol

thanks!

Do you have a link to the product?

Typically, there is an input hose (like from charge pipe, or even manifold pressure), and an output hose (which would go to your wastegate).

Most designs are a ball on seat with a spring type regulator. There is a threaded adjustment that changes the preload on the spring to allow for more or less air pressure going to the wastegate (and there is usually a tiny vent hole). To regulate down, the threaded part should be screwed OUT. If you didn't try first running it with it as loose as possible, do that.
You should also try to test it with compressed air going into the manual boost controller (regulated if possible so you know when it'll come on), and verify it opens the wastegate.

the input is form the charge pipe going to the tb. the out put is going to a T with equal length hose to each wastegate. this is the ball and spring setup you speak of. I out compressed air in the psi side and opened the valve and it did allow a change (from full flow to no flow) of air pressure. im not sure if im supposed to send the vent right to my HKS bov or if I possibly just did something wrong.

thanks for the help

You have more than 1 wastegate?
Do you have a picture of your setup?

Sounds like you have it plumbed correctly. Did you run new hoses to the actuators? Or use existing ones and teed them? Are the boost jets still in place? What was the set up before this MBC?

Yeah it should literally be: boost source (like from charge piping or manifold pressure) goes into one side of the controller, and the other side goes to the wastegate(s).
The blow off valve shouldn't come into this equation at all.
If you're boosting too high, you should attempt to back the boost controller all the way out, or bypass it completely to make sure you don't have any other problems.

i ran new hose when i had the motor out, so there are no boost jets. i have the psi hose going in to the unregulated end of the controller and the waste gate hose coming off the regulated end. the waste gates on the turbos at minimum are 14psi springs. everything i do im pulling 20psi so im not sure where i messed up. im going to start peeling things off tomorrow and figure out what the hell i did wrong. thanks everyone, ill send pics of what i come up with.

thanks!

Good luck!
I'd definitely try just replacing the boost controller with a vacuum connector and seeing what happens first.

Its not unheard of to get a faulty boost controller. It sucks when it happens too, cos it can really make you scratch your head, or worse, boost spike and blow your engine.
