Hey all, what does everybody think is a good manual, inexpensive boost controller? Thanks.

I am in the hunt as we speak. I saw that same How To, but when it comes to very important things like boost regulation, my motor is more important than saving a few bucks. Here are the ones that come highly reccomended:

Hallman (any of theirs are great)http://www.hallmanboostcontroller.com/

Joe Phttp://www.boostcontroller.com...ory=4

HKS VBC (for internal w/g):http://www.i-m-racing.com/hksvbcvarboo.html

I have a Turbo xs basic, but i like the one i got off of ebay more. I think cause the one off of ebay vented to the atmosphere in order to release the trapped pressure in the wastegate. I dont think the turboxs does. Just my 2 cents.

If i purchase another its either gonna be an adjustable wastegate, or an electronic boost controller.

man after messing around with them, i got a Profec Tyrpe S and couldnt be happier about teh decision, i need rock solid precise controll, not spiking and minute/troublesome adjustments etc...

just my 2c, oh and i got it for $280 - more than worth it.

The problem with this style is that you will get different boost levels at different barometric pressures and different altitudes. The internal spring style MBC's are much more accurate and stable.

It's hard to go wrong with any of the ball/spring MBC's.

Yeah, but for $180. You can almost get a clean, used Profec for that (or an EVC) on eBay. I am getting a Joe P as it has a dual spring and ball, so that even IF the adjustment screw backs out, there is no chance of overboosting. I also like that the new Joe P can come with a heavy or light spring. Since I am shooting for a jump from 7psi that I run currently, to 10psi (or 12psi on cool nights here in a few months) the light spring is supposed to totally eliminate spike.

I got mine for free a friend of mine had it but he couldn't get it to work right, so I asked if I could have it and he just gave it to me! Works fine for me... maybe he had something hooked up wrong, I dunno. I like it alot, never spikes, and is very precise.
