The time with the tuner getting it all going!! What a wonderful time it is! Yours has been a pretty special build to follow. I remember mine on the dyno for the first run, oh what a sweet day it is!!!

I remember sitting in my car, wondering what else I had to do/hook up to get it running. I went through my mental checklist....wait....everything is done! It "should" run right now.

So I took a deep breath and cranked it over. It didn't turn over more than 2 times and fired right up! It started up like it was just shut off 5 minutes before on a late night beer run. I couldn't believe it.

I let it run about a minute and shut it off, went into the garage and sat down for about 15 minutes and I had the biggest smile on my face I think I have ever had. I couldn't get rid of it. It just went on and on. I just sat there by myself smiling, muttering over and over "Dude, I can't believe it runs". haha

hi guys

thanks you so much for the encouraging comments..

you guys know much better than anyone how i feel...

but the sad thing is i can get it tune to certain level only first.. have to do some mechanical touch up before the car be up on a dyno for full tunning.

hope to get around 500hp at the crank with 0.5bar of boost.

in anyway, if everything is going well. than it should be running within a month.. figure cross..

update will be surely done. with video and sound..

We can't wait to hear that thing! That exhaust setup alone will sound awesome let alone with boost on it.

hi guys

just short update... no luck engine not yet start.

have figure out the problem.. its the crank and cam sensor.

i using the vh41 original sensor with the disc wheel modify. however, the ecu can read only magnetic... however, have figure a way out to solve the problem as the ecu can do internal setting in the box itself by swithcing the jumper.. so it should be able to read the optical sensor..

but 1 BIG problem is GF is coming tonight and tomorrow i will be out to other countries for work for 10days!!!!

so total down another about 2 weeks.

think you guys know better than all my friends, GF (keke) how i feel. just like to share man... sucks for this 2 weeks... hopefully the light is there after that.

thanks.

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.

To be lucky enough to have a good woman you would rather spend time with then the car, is a blessing. BMW is going to be amazing. Hope she is small, as the pass seat has no leg room.

woohooo woohooo

Car make a big progress.. i manage to start the new ECU (DTApro8 stand alone) already..!!!!

can't do any further tunning as its 12am and i short of wide band sensor..

discover a stupid leak for the turbo oil inlet hose...

anyway, from here, things will go faster till the car is on the road.

talk is nothing.. here is a short video.. will use better video cam when i can get one.

LIFE IS SPRAK UP when the engine is running!!!!!

I was wondering if that chugging sound was a result of the exhaust phasing.

yes you are right. now we switch to sequential firing and its sound different again.

now charing system got problem and will have to sort it out within 1or 2 days to continue tunning.

will post another sound video when things get better. however, the exhuast is softer than i expect. but not sure at higher rev.

Don't worry about the exhaust. Once this engine hits 4k it's a totally different animal. Goes from mellow rumble to flat out angry.

I was likening my motor to having tourettes... when that VTC kicks in and the exhaust note changes, it just seems like the engine is barking harsh obscenities at passers by. It sounds awesome

scary how fast time is. about 1year + since i last posted

well, still going slow to complete it.

reason:1) work get really too busy2) going to get married and $$ is limited a lot recently 3) many problems appear along the way4) got myself a bmw e36 compact (still original haha) for daily driving and this take up lots of budget again.

however, things below is done further:1) Quarter master 3plate clutch installed into the VH41/RB25 box set up2) Hydralic clutch throw out bearing conversion - with mechanical TOB, clutch peda too hard, however, changing to hydraulic doesn't help much either... 3)wilwood full floor pedal - clutch, doule master brake pump, gas pedal4) extra roll cage with X cross member bar undercarriage5) brakes caliper - Wilwood -F6pots, R4pots

upcoming work:1) to install a electrical turbo oil return pump - smoking now as return pipe is difficult to have a high point due to some stupid angle2) rewire the ECU as some wiring has to touch up3) change radiator electrical fan - current one think almost dying4) wrap up those intercooler piping with heat shield etc5) Hit dyno

new estimation date of completion will be year end 2009. hope can get it done in time.

just some update, project is not dead. still struggling and still VERY DETERMINE to complete it no matter what it takes!!

good luck guys with your project.

CheersDerrick
