I have successfully paired my phone to the cars bluetooth but when I get an incoming call it just displays telephone. Shouldnt it dispaly the incoming/outgoing call number since it does have rds support. It is inconvenient to search for the phone and see who is calling when I get a call while driving. Maybe I have to store these numbers first? Thanks,Masa

I can't say 100% for sure because it's my wife's car, but I don't think it displays the name or number of the caller. It just says "Telephone" on the stereo.

Sorry -- this is exactly the way it's supposed to work. The system only pulls the audio from your phone, not the caller ID data. It's just how this bluetooth module works.

Is this supposed to work like Sync on the Fords ? When a call comes in does it just diplay the call message and then you have to use then handset or can you answer it through the Versa Blurtooth ?

I'm not familiar with Ford's Sync system, but no...you do not need to use your handset at all. My wife never gets her phone out of her purse. She can place calls and answer calls all from the bluetooth controls on the steering wheel of her Versa.

yes I think it just displays telephone for incoming call. I wish they had the feature to display the caller id. That way I dont have to search for the cell phone to check who is calling.

I think Ford's system might qualify as the "next generation" beyond what's in our Versas, unfortunately. I haven't used it but based on their literature, it seems like those do sync a little more tightly with phones. I'd imagine this level of full compatibility applies to a much narrower line of phones.

I did recently get a new phone (a Motorola RIZR) that allow me to have some degree of in-phone caller identification, but it's a bit of a workaround. I created an MP3 ringtone on my computer and copied it to my phone via bluetooth. When the phone rings in my car, this ringtone plays through the speakers over the bluetooth connection. Since I can create a "Ringer ID" for each phone book entry, I could theoretically have spoken words or other cues that would let me know who's calling.

(I haven't done this -- and probably won't, but it's an idea.)

Sounds like a good idea. I can try it out. I may need some help on this though and will keep you posted if I can figure it out.

I went with the much cheaper SL without all the bluetooth and whatnot and installed my own bluetooth Pioneer deck that can do a lot of other things for basically $50 (sold the SL stock deck for $200). It shows the number and I have limited bluetooth (no pic/file sharing). People who call me say I sound clear through it. I've read different about the stock bluetooth.

Your custom mp3 ringtone on your phone plays over the car's speakers when you get a call? How did you manage that? The bluetooth unit in the car has a couple of its own ringtones that are unrelated to the ringtones on the phone. When a call comes in it triggers the bluetooth in the car to sound the ringtone and play it through the speakers. Your phone's ringtone is unrelated to the bluetooth's ringtone. Do you know something I don't?

GUYS! GUYS! ITS BLUETOOTH. lets not make it harder than it has to be. the easy answer is no it will not display your caller id. You can turn off the car ringer and just listen for your phones custom tone. Or you can buy some type of device to mount your phone so you can see it. I have an Iphone and it fits in my cup holder. Hope that helps...

I was surprised as anyone when my custom ringtone played over the speakers, and it didn't take any special settings. I didn't expect it -- with my old phone, on which I also had a custom ringtone, I always heard the car's standard tone. The new one -- which is also a rudimentary music player (Moto Rizr) -- does have an option for bluetooth stereo audio... but I didn't think that was related or compatible with the Versa system.

I wish there was a way to rig a music player to play through the speakers via bluetooth rather than just a 15 second ringtone... although the fact that ringtones work show it can't be that hard...

Yea, it did that to me as well and I have (had) a RIZR as well. I didn't know what was going on at first. But, I then changed it to the car ringer and now can't get it back to play the phone mp3 ringer.
