I would like to try and change out the stock microphone too a higher quality microphone in my bluetooth setup in my SL has anyone done this as the stock bluetooth sounds like sheet on the other side! And I am thinking a better microphone just might do it??Also can someone tell me how to drop the panel it is located on.

I would be interested in this too. some calls I have made do sound really bad, but most of them work fine. I *think* it is really the compression that the Bluetooth connection uses between the car and phone, software issue. (I use a Samsung Blackjack btw.)I'm going to take mine appart this weekend and will report back.

I saw in the Versa manual that you can go to the Nissan website: http://www.nissanusa.com/bluetooth/ to get a list of recommended cell phones. But if you've invested in one already it's probably too late to take their recommendation. And, it may not make a difference in what you're experiencing anyway. But thought I'd mention the reference from the manual.

Since I'm in the market for a new phone, I'll avoid this one; although, my guess is that it's not the phone but the microphone quality in the vehicle. I have a friend with an Altima and when he's called me it was difficult to hear him. I wonder if all the Nissan vehicles have the same quality microphone, or whether there are better/ worse microphones? I have to believe that Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes and the like would only have the best quality equipment. Who know!?

This topic has been mentioned before. I'm not saying that a different mic won't make a difference....it might. But I'll be shocked if it's enough of a difference to go through the cost and trouble. Have you ever used a regular speakerphone in a house or office? You get that hollow, far away sound even then. And that's in a setting with no road or wind noise. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the system we have in the Versa is probably about as good as we can have it. If the Versa was a quieter, more insulated car the Bluetooth would sound better. If it were a cheaper, less insulated car it would sound even worse. I'm sure the system in a Lexus or Infinity sounds better than ours, but it's probably because of a quieter car...not a better mic.
