Newby here.My 1993 Nissan 300ZX, non-turbo, 2+2, manual overheated BADLY! I was in a very bad part of town and it was my life or my car's life and I chose me. After getting to a safe place I stopped the car but lots of steam, smoke etc. It was chugging hard and clanging hard by that time. Waited for it to cool down, tried to start it but no go. Had it towed home. How much heat can these cars take and what is the next step? If blown engine what am I looking at in money and where to go in Dallas? Thanks for your help.

The J30 and 300zx share the same engine transmission [auto]. We have replaced dozens for severe owner abuse [bad oil changes and overheats].

Decent JDM junkyard takeouts are $1,000, rehabilitation [ new hoses, water pump, belts, ks, plugs, cleaning runs $ 500and swap labor runs 20 hours say another ~ $1,800..............roughly $3300 to do the job right and assure it will last another 60-100k.

US junkyard engine usually have more miles and owner abuse compared to JDM....................don't buy a pig in poke make sure an expert tech selects the engine to be rehabed.
