Thats right! my det block is cleaned up and honed out ready to be put back to gether. I have all the gaskets and rings and bearings waiting to go in!My friend brought over his drill and stones today, only took an hour and a half since we had a ***** of a time removing the crank sprocket. We ended up leaving it mostly on, but just pulled it back enough to get the oil pump off the dowels. Worked out pretty great, we will yank it off fully tomorrow and start the reassembly.

Only thing is I'm still waiting on my stupid clutch budget to break even... dam this economy!

I'll take pictures as I build it back up. You all get jealous of my dome'd pistons yeah, u like that.

sorry... I'm giddy!

Quick note, can I re-use the girdle bolts? not should I, but can I? Just torque 'em a tad tighter maybe?

AFAIK, none of the bolts on the CA are TTY (torque to yield) so they are all re-usable.

Ill get pictures once i do something with my camera. It's an old sony and it JUST started to refuse to turn on basically. I am ebay hunting for a new one so keep ur fingers crossed if u want pictures of my Frankenstein motor.... hi compression pistons in a det block

I havent worked on it since wensday, but i did wanna ask... how stiff shoul new rings make the motor when trying to turn it by hand? nothings scratching up the walls... but shes pretty hard to turn at first. after a few turns it seems to loosen up a tad, but still feels tight (per cylinder). not to mention its a slow proccess to get the pistons down to the crankshaft. Anyone know what that is about?
