stay away from filters you have to oil. Maf's dont like the oil. K&N's are oil filters, which will cause you probelms in the long run, unless you were gonna convert the car to speed density.

Blitz, stainless steel that never needs to be replaced, can't go wrong. All my cars use it.

Yeah, I'd go Blitz too. There's no difference in power gains, but stainless steel is always a plus.

Apexi filters better than the Blitz SUS. I'd get an Apexi or a Blitz LM filter.

K&N will filter better than all of the above. Think about it. Is excess engine bearing wear and quicker oil changes worth more than a MAS that just needs a quick clean every once in a while? Dont think so.

I'd stick to an Apexi or Blitz LM. Or save some money and get a K&N. Just dont over oil it and let it dry before you put it in and you shouldnt have problems with the MAS. Every time I've had people have problems with the MAS getting junked up was due to them over oiling and not allowing it to dry.

A ton of people use K&N's and they dont complain of MAS problems.

My engine came with a K&N attached and I'll be keeping it on there. To reiterate what has been said above... just oil it with a light coating of oil, and do make sure to let it dry for an hour or two to be on the safe side.
