I owe Sean my life for helping me throughout the whole weekend for swapping the CA into my car. I just wanted to say he has done a fantastic job on the boards as well as in person and he taught me so much. Again thank you!!!! Also for all the people who help on these forums because they helped me too.Im happy now because I can officially join all of you and say I have a CA18DET.Now all I have to do is wire up the Knock Sensor and hope my idle is normal.

haha, bring the car over here chris and that might happen! gas is too damn expensive to drive my a$s all the way to daytona

and Nghi, you're very welcome. we seemed to do really well I impressed even myself with how smoothly it went. No real hitches, and took us 2 days at a leisurely rate. Now if we could only find out that idle problem we'd be set... Its so odd, it pulls as good if not better vaccum at idle than my car (18-19 inhg) and it idles great sometimes. Then it just drops to like 400rpm, and then back up to 1000, then it dies. Its odd because driving it around it felt allright, didn't feel like it had a boost leak or anything like that. We'll do some troubleshooting later, might be a bad idle air valve or something.

p.s. Wiring is so easy, if you can't get a CA wired up, you really should not be working on cars (j/k, but no its really that easy). I guess this was my third CA swap, but still...

Excellent work! Have fun with that idle issue I too just recently completed my 21st CA swap, but my 1st automatic and I had to wire it into the KA24E's auto transmission ecu. Keep up th egood work.

Do you guys have some sort of write up on the wiring extensions needed? That would be most helpful...

fyi with all my stuff fixed and the idle control stuff cleaned up (all gaskets replaced etc so as to be 'like new') my car idle's at around 650-750 solidly with the AAC/IACV solenoid disconnected.. I can't adjust it any lower than that

before all that I could kill the motor by adjusting it too low.

The gasket between IACV/ACC and the manifold is 16253-D5710, and the gasket within the unit itself (its two peices) is 23785-D5720. I was able to get both new from Courtesy a few months ago.. however I'm not sure if I had to use an alternate part #, I'll have to try and find the receipt later when I'm home (out of town right now), ATM my USDM/EDM FAST is screwed up and needs to be reinstalled so I can look up JDM part #'s only..

From my memory, I know we had to extend the MAFS wires and we bought a O2 sensor (Bosche) from a 300ZX and it already had the plug and long wires so we didn't need to extend that. Actually some of the harness was longer then needed but we didn't shorten it because we got lazy. If I come up with anything else I will post.

On another note, if we didn't wire up the Knock sensor, could it have caused the car to idle real bad and stall as well as barely run until it hits 3000-4000 rpms? The first few startups it was fine but then the idle got horrible.

Congrats! Sounds about like my swap went. I need to find some local kid with money to blow....Once you install a motor it becomes a disease....you want to do it all the time. I find myself looking into buying a Honda just so I can do a swap.

I don't know about the knock sensor. Mine wasn't wired up and it idled just fine. It just wouldn't put as much timing in as it should and it felt like it was doggin.

man you guys have it lucky in the states. Gas just hit $1.15/litre for regular, $1.25/litre for 91 octane, here in canada, which is like $4.60/gal for regular and $5.00/gal for 91 , so don't complain about your 3.00/gal.
